A building with a story

Our red-brick shop was once the Bank of Alexandria, which opened on April 6, 1903. Today, its rooms are filled with antiques and discoveries—and the old vault door is still here.

In October 1919, the bank made news when nighttime robbers broke into its safe-deposit vault and stole about $40,000 in Liberty Bonds. They also cut telephone lines to nearby towns. More than a century later, this building still has stories to tell.
